چکیده

Given a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) on n variables, x1, x2, . . . , xn ∈ {±1}, and m constraints, a global cardinality constraint has the form of ∑n i=1 xi = (1−2p)n, where p ∈ (Ω(1), 1−Ω(1)) and pn is an integer. Let AV G be the expected number of constraints satisfied by randomly choosing an assignment to x1, x2, . . . , xn, complying with the global cardinality constraint. The CSP above average with the global cardinality constraint problem asks whether there is an assignment (complying with the cardinality constraint) that satisfies more than (AV G+ t) constraints, where t is an input parameter. In this paper, we present an algorithm that finds a valid assignment satisfying more than (AV G+ t) constraints (if there exists one) in time (2 ) + n). Therefore, the CSP above average with the global cardinality constraint problem is fixed-parameter tractable. Supported by NSF Grant CCF-1526952.

Constraint Satisfaction Parameterized by Solution Size

In the constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) corresponding to a constraint language (i.e., a set of relations) Γ, the goal is to find an assignment of values to variables so that a given set of constraints specified by relations from Γ is satisfied. The complexity of this problem has received substantial amount of attention in the past decade. In this paper, we study the fixed-parameter tractab...

Synthesizing Filtering Algorithms for Global Chance-Constraints

Stochastic Constraint Satisfaction Problems (SCSPs) are a powerful modeling framework for problems under uncertainty. To solve them is a P-Space task. The only solution approach to date compiles down SCSPs into classical CSPs. This allows the reuse of classical constraint solvers to solve SCSPs, but at the cost of increased space requirements and weak constraint propagation. This paper tries to...

Parameterized Constraint Satisfaction Problems: a Survey

We consider constraint satisfaction problems parameterized above or below guaranteed values. One example is MaxSat parameterized above m/2: given a CNF formula F with m clauses, decide whether there is a truth assignment that satisfies at least m/2 + k clauses, where k is the parameter. Among other problems we deal with are MaxLin2-AA (given a system of linear equations over F2 in which each eq...

Satisfiability of Ordering CSPs Above Average

We study the satisfiability of ordering constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) above average. We show that for every k, the satisfiability above average of ordering CSPs of arity at most k is fixed-parameter tractable.
